One dash of lipstick can already complete your look for the day. For instance, most beauty junkies only feel their look is complete after a coat of lipstick since it adds glamour onto the face. This classic beauty product comes in a wide range of colors, from deep velvet to shocking pink. They also come in variants such as your traditional, matte, semi-gloss, or liquid lipstick.

But while we rely on lipsticks for our cosmetic needs, most of them do not last long as much as we need them to. When we choose to eat something with light grease or have a drink, some pigment fade away from your lips. The traditional lipstick is not meant to last the whole day in general. The good news is: there are a few easy and efficient tips into making your lipstick last long.

1. Exfoliate your lips
When your lips are hydrated and soft, the pigment on lipsticks is likely to stay more evenly onto its surface. Thus when you apply lipstick on properly exfoliated lips, not only does it look better but it also feels better.
You can opt to make your lip scrub at home by combining honey, lemon, and sugar. Apply the scrub onto your lips thoroughly yet gently, effectively exfoliating dead skin cells through the use of a soft-bristled tooth brush.

2. Moisturize
Aside from exfoliating, you might as well moisturize your lips in order to prevent it from drying. Matte lipsticks, for one, are notorious for leaving your lips dry after a long day’s coverage. Chemicals in lipstick have poor adherence on dry lips, thus you are better off moisturizing them regularly. Apply your favorite lip balm or petroleum jelly such as Vaseline before you apply a coat of lipstick.

3. Apply foundation
While foundation is a staple make-up base on the face, a little trick is that it prolongs the coverage of lipstick when applied on the lips. Take a small amount of foundation or dab an amount of concealer on your lips before you apply your lipstick. The product will make your lipstick stick much better, hence it is likely to last longer than usual.

4. Use a lip liner
Every beauty guru knows applying lip liner as base coat will help prevent your lipstick from sliding off. Not only that, it also boosts the color of your lips. Gently fill the entire surface with liner, from the center of your lips before you work your way outwards. Apply a lipstick of the same shade afterwards!

5. Practice layering
Sometimes, one coat of lipstick just isn’t enough. Layering it up twice will make your lipstick last longer. A second layer of lipstick is guaranteed to withstand activities such as eating or drinking, especially if its pigmentation is designed for long coverage.

In the past years, waxing already became a common service offered at spas and salons. In fact, going through this hair removal procedure already became a part of our beauty routine. For people who hasn’t done it yet though, waxing may seem like a daunting procedure. So if you’re new to waxing and is more than willing to push through with the procedure, we’ve rounded up some tips that’ll surely make your first waxing experience totally worth the trouble.

  1. Don’t DIY. If you’re a first-timer, then it would be best to seek the help of a professional. Sure, doing it on your own will save you some bucks, but you won’t be able to reach certain areas in your body and you might even end up dealing with a messier and painful procedure. So better not try a DIY waxing, unless you have all the equipment and you’re as good as a pro.
  1. Wait for Hair Regrowth. As a beginner, one of the most important things that you need to understand with waxing is that your body hair should be about a quarter inch long before pushing through with the procedure. This is especially crucial if you’re planning to have a Brazilian wax done, because you surely wouldn’t want to experience any undue pulling on your intimate area.
  1. Understand That Timing is everything. Just like in other procedures, timing is also everything in waxing. If you don’t want your first time wax treatment to turn into a total nightmare, we suggest that you book your appointment a week after your period. Having the procedure right before your period will only cause you to experience so much pain in the process. Also, aim for a morning appointment to avoid any irritation from happening after your procedure.

  1. Perform Some Pre-Wax Pain Management. Although painless waxing is still a pipe dream, performing some pre-wax pain management can also be a good way to lessen the pain that you might experience during the process. You can take Ibuprofen beforehand to reduce the after-wax swelling, or you can also exfoliate the area to be waxed a day prior to your appointment.
  1. Protect Your Newly Waxed Skin. Once you’re done waxing, shower and bathe as normal but avoid over-exfoliating your skin two days after your skin has completely calmed down. Instead, use natural fibres and a washcloth to gently exfoliate that area after bathing to keep any ingrown hairs from appearing.

Waxing can seem like a really scary procedure especially for first-timers, but by doing and keeping these tips in mind, you’ll surely be able to survive your first waxing procedure and have the smooth skin that you’ve always wanted.

5 Ways to Incorporate Baby Powder in Your Beauty Routine
Every now and then, we tend to come across a common item that manages to become a staple piece in our beauty routine. Coconut oil and toothbrush are some of these items, but the one that has proven its versatility is our good old baby powder. Whether you use it to set your makeup or as an alternative to your dry shampoo, baby powder makes a good household staple that each of us has to have in our homes. What are some other uses of this baby product? Read on and find out.

  1. As a Lipstick Sealer. A lot of celebrities and makeup artists swear by this trick. All you have to do is apply a coat of your favourite lipstick, place a tissue paper over your lips, and dab a powder brush dipped in baby powder over your lips. The powder absorbs excess lipstick oils, making your lipstick last longer.
  1. As an Eyelash Volumizer. Your powder may not look like it, but it actually works wonders as an eyelash plumper. Apply a coat of mascara, lightly brush some baby powder over your lashes, add another coat of mascara, and voila! You now have vavavoom lashes minus the hassle of putting on falsies.
  1. As a Dry Shampoo Alternative. Ran out of dry shampoo? Grab your baby powder and dust some of it onto your roots to get rid of the oiliness. To avoid getting that white cast, apply powder with your hand instead of dusting the product straight from the bottle to your hair.

  1. As a Sand Remover. Love the beach but hate removing the sand that’s all over you? Apply some baby powder on the sandy areas of your body, and wipe it off with a clean towel. Now, that’s an instant product addition to your beach bag.

Who would’ve thought that the basic powder we’ve known to be a baby product provides so many uses for adults? It may not look like it, but baby powder can actually do more than simply keeping babies from discomfort.
